SAM-e is made in most cells of the body and there are no direct SAM-e dietary sources.
Increasing your intake of foods containing the amino acid methionine may help your body increase its SAM-e production. Methionine food sources include protein foods such as fish, beef, eggs and chicken as well as nuts and seeds.

Start with 1 tablet per day. The best time to take SAM-e is on an empty stomach at least 30 minutes before a meal. Clinical studies indicate that benefits are most likely evident after 7–14 days of supplementation.† If benefits are not achieved within two weeks, you may require a higher level of supplementation. To help determine the proper level of supplementation that works for you, gradually increase the number of tablets (maximum 1,600 mg/day) and consult with your doctor until benefits are achieved.
People with bipolar (manic) depression or who are experiencing severe issues with mood, including thoughts of suicide, should not take this or any other product containing SAM-e except under a doctor's supervision. If you are pregnant or nursing, or taking prescription antidepressant medications, consult your doctor before using this product. Given that no two people are alike, if you are taking any medications you should be aware that potential drug-nutrient interactions may occur and are encouraged to consult a healthcare professional before using this product.
