Where are your products manufactured?

Answer: All Nature Made products are manufactured to meet our high quality standards. Most all of our products are manufactured at our own facilities in Southern California. For the few products that are made by other companies, we work with a few, select, highly qualified contract manufacturers that manufacture to our high standards. Most of these contract manufacturers are located in the United States, but a few are located overseas. None are located in China.

What is an I.U. compared to milligrams and micrograms?

Answer: IU stands for International Unit and is a standard and internationally accepted unit of measurement for vitamin A (and Beta-carotene), Vitamin D and Vitamin E. The remainder of vitamins and minerals are measured in milligrams (mg) or micrograms (mcg). Although IUs can be converted into mgs, most supplement labels as well as food labels will reflect the amount of these nutrients in IU.

What is a Daily Value?

Answer: The Daily Value is the amount of a nutrient the body needs based on a 2000-calorie diet for an average sized person. There are two standards that are referenced as follows: 1. Daily Reference Values 2. Reference Daily Intakes (RDIs), which replaced the term “U.S. RDA” (the values determined by FDA and used on food labels, taken from the “RDAs” which are values determined by the National Academy of Sciences for various populations groups). The Daily Value (or a RDA's) is the minimal dosage intended to augment less than perfect eating habits (the Daily Values, are the values that will be seen on the labels). However, these values do not indicate what the safe maximum amount of a vitamin you can take, or amounts that may give therapeutic benefits, in addition to keeping the body from being deficient.

Answer: Most all of our products are gluten free, and is stated as such on the label.

From where do you source your ingredients?

Answer: The path to quality products at Nature Made starts well before reaching our manufacturing centers. We source our ingredients globally, and only work with suppliers who meet our high-quality standards, in both process and ingredient sourcing, and we ensure the quality levels of each new supplier via audits conducted by ourselves or experts we select. This ensures that our suppliers have clean, compliant facilities that follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). We also require our suppliers to provide a Certificate of Analysis (COA).

Answer: If a product is past its expiration date, it is not harmful. However, some of the nutrients may not be quite up to their labeled potency.

How do I as a consumer know that the products that I purchase contain the ingredients that are on the label and are at full potency?

Answer: Nature Made is committed to producing quality products, and has a strict quality control process that meets or exceeds strict quality standards of the U. S. Food and Drug Administration and third party verification by the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP). We guarantee the potency of all labeled ingredients as long as the product has been properly stored and is within its shelf life.

Have all of your products earned the DVSP (USP Verification) seal?

Answer: The United States Pharmacopeia (USP) a scientific, not-for-profit organization sets public standards for medicines, supplements, and food ingredients. Only those products that meet its stringent criteria are permitted to display the USP Verified Mark on their label. The USP Verified Mark on Nature Made’s products tells you that they have been independently verified for quality, purity, strength, disintegration or dissolution (the ability for the tablets to breakdown in the stomach so that the dietary ingredients can be absorbed) and consistency.
Nature Made was the first vitamin brand to earn USP Verification on many of its products, and it is still the only major national broadline vitamin brand involved in USP. Many Nature Made products currently hold the USP Verification Mark, and we are committed to increasing those reviewed and verified by USP in the future.

Why is there a desiccant in my bottle of Nature Made Multi Prenatal with DHA?

Answer: We have added a plastic desiccant to some of our products to improve the quality by helping to reduce the natural occurring odor, and to help reduce the softgels from becoming sticky. Although the desiccant should not be consumed it is non-toxic. The desiccant has been manufactured in the United States and is used world wide.
