NORTHRIDGE, Calif. (November 18, 2005) — Pharmavite LLC, manufacturer of Nature Made® vitamins and minerals, OLAY™ Vitamins and Nature’s Resource® herbal supplements, was the recipient of Progressive Grocer’s Category Captain award for the third year in a row. The accolade recognizes Pharmavite’s innovative products, superior business management and leadership accomplishments in 2005.

Progressive Grocer magazine, a leading strategic publication that provides analysis on current trends in the supermarket industry and commentary on new product developments, bestowed Pharmavite the award for outstanding category management in the Vitamin category. Consumer education and insight, promotion effectiveness and measurement, as well as retailer input were key contributing factors toward this achievement.

This is one of four awards Pharmavite received this year. Earlier this year, Nature Made’s Reduced-Size Calcium received the Award of Merit from Nutrition Business Journal. The top-selling Nature Made Fish Oil also received a “Best Choice” Rating based on a survey conducted by Environmental Defense, a leading national nonprofit organization representing more than 400,000 members.

In September, two Pharmavite executives were honored for their contributions to the dietary supplement industry. David C. Madsen, Ph.D., FACN, CNS, Pharmavite director of scientific affairs, received the Mark Bieber Industry Award from the American College of Nutrition. Joy Joseph, former vice president of quality, technical operations and product development for Pharmavite, was awarded the prestigious “CRN (Steuben) Apple” by the Council of Responsible Nutrition.
