NEW DOUBLE STRENGTH FISH OIL PROVIDES MORE OMEGA-3’S

Release date: 3/27/2007

NORTHRIDGE, CALIF (March 27, 2007) – Heart health is a top concern for vitamin users today . To help them take control of their heart health, many Americans reach for fish oil supplements. In response, Nature Made®, America’s number one-selling vitamin, mineral and supplement brand, introduces Double Strength Fish Oil with higher concentrations of important fatty acids than traditional fish oil supplements. Available in 1,200 mg softgels, this product allows consumers to maximize their beneficial omega-3 intake in half the number of soft-gels per day.

“The benefits of the omega-3 fatty acids in fish oil are seemingly limitless. I try to educate people about the many different ways fish oil benefits our health, from helping to protect our heart and support our brain health, to boosting our mood,” said Rachel Agnew, registered dietitian, Nature Made consumer education specialist. “I also know that few Americans actually eat enough fish – at least two servings per week – to take advantage of the benefits of this important nutrient. That’s why I recommend supplementing with a high-dose product to make sure you obtain optimal levels of omega-3 fatty acids without increasing your soft-gel intake.”

Consumers can rest assured because the omega-3 fish oil used in Nature Made fish oil products, including its double strength fish oil, use only wild ocean fish oil, and do not use oil from farm-raised fish. Each batch is processed using state-of-the-art technology to assure high purity levels. And all batches of fish oil are guaranteed to pass the stringent standards of the CRN (Council for Responsible Nutrition) omega-3 Monograph, meet the U.S. Pharmacopeia (USP) omega-3 fish oil purity standards, and comply with all standards prescribed by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Agnew adds, “In February, the American Heart Association (AHA) released their 2007 Guidelines for Preventing Cardiovascular Disease in Women, which recommends that women consider taking a capsule supplement of 850 - 1000 mg of EPA and DHA to help reduce their risk for heart disease . Nature Made’s new double strength fish oil complements the AHA’s new guidelines.”

Studies also show that omega-3 fatty acids help control and support the body's natural inflammatory response , aid in prostate health and eye health and also help maintain proper cognitive function. Fish oil supplements contain omega-3 fatty acids eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) found in oily fish. And according to scientific evidence, consumption of omega-3 fatty acids may reduce the risk of coronary heart disease, although the FDA has evaluated the data and determined that the evidence is not conclusive.
