Feb 29, 2012

Dr. Janet Taylor

With her impressive list of accomplishments and commitment to quality care, we’re excited to welcome Dr. Janet Taylor to the Nature Made family as our new SAM-e Complete spokesperson.  Dr. Taylor is a psychiatrist with a private practice in New York City, who has made it her mission to go beyond traditional forms of psychiatry and reach out into communities that need her help most.

Dr. Taylor attended the University of Louisville for both her undergraduate degree as well as medical school. Her psychiatric residency was completed at New York Medical College – Westchester Medical Center, and she also received a Masters of Public Health from Columbia University. Her wide diverse educational background has translated into the work she does, which is described as “community mental health”.

Aside from maintaining her private practice, she is the Medical Consultant for Children of Promise, an organization in Brooklyn that focuses on children who have a parent that is incarcerated, and she is a former clinical instructor of Psychiatry at Harlem Hospital. She developed a keen interest in Life Coaching while working in Vancouver, British Columbia, and became a Certified Professional Coach in order to establish her company, Mind Projects, specializing in corporate stress management and performance and health enhancement.

Additionally, Dr. Taylor has always felt strongly about her volunteer work. She is the Board Chair of the National Black Women’s Imperative, a Red Cross Disaster Mental Health Worker, and participates as a Volunteer Facilitator with the Tree House Program – a bereavement center in Westchester, NY.

She’s also been invited to share her expertise on television shows and radio programs, including The Today Show, and magazines such as Essence and Oprah Magazine. You’ll be seeing her around Nature Made, writing blog posts from time to time and answering your questions. So stay tuned to help us welcome Dr. Taylor!
